The end of the Gotham Mob: Meeting the Joker
Falcone Estate, April 23rd. None in the dinging room could believe their eyes. There before them was the one who had caused so much trouble in Gotham City; their city. Killing their pawns, the new Police Commissioner Sarah Essen, and Carmine's oldest son Andre Falcone. The heir to the Falcone family, the man the youngest members of the crime families strived to be, and this maniac sitting at the end of the table took his life. Tapping his fingers in sync with the grandfather clock, the man who calls himself the Joker sat in silence. Though there were a few who sat and stared at the man in fear, most stared in disbelief. Tabitha more so than any. She could not believe that this skinny man was the cause of all this chaos, and tried to kill her in the explosion which took Councilman Arthur Reeve's house, and mutilated body with it. The Joker's purple suit, green vest with matching bowtie, and the yellow shirt were quite a contrast to the red cloth mask he currently wore. The same mask which he dawned at Commissioner Essen's funeral, the day he truly greeted the world for the first time. Reaching out for a glass of water, those seated closest to him quivered in fear and whimpered slightly. Sighing in apparent frustration, the Joker reached his hand back and proceeded his rhythmic tapping as his eyes darted back to back at those seated all before him. On his left was Sal Maroni, along with his daughter Laura who insisted or shall we say argued with her father to attend the meeting with the Joker. Beside the Maroni family was Remy Collins with his katana set fiercely on his lap, in preparation for Joker's throat. His right sat the gangster Gambol whom looked onto Joker with great disgust. Fish Mooney sat with a wine bottle in her hand and twirled the wine inside. Theo Galavan sat across from her with his sister and Barbara Kean on right with Butch Gilzean on her left. From there, came some mobsters that Joker apparently didn't know, nor did he care about. From the Sullivan family, to the Dimitrov family, Vinnie Ricorso, Antoine Rotelli, members of the McKillin family, Chuckie Sol, Buzz, Bronski, and even Lau had attended. All were present, except for one. Though his children Alberto and Sophia were present, the man of the hour, Carmine Falcone was not. Looking about, Joker could feel the certain aura of unease across the entire table. Darting to Maroni's daughter who nervously took out her makeup kit to fix her lipstick became the perfect object for something funny. "Boo!" shouted Joker rocking the table. Laura jumped out of her skin as shrieked herself while her lipstick ran across her entire face. As Laura looked at her reflection in horror, the Joker's only response was his infamous cackle which shook the room. "Need a tutorial on your makeup Dollface? I'd be happy to give you some pointers." He stated while Sal held onto his daughter who started to act hysterical, much to Tabitha and Barbara's amusement."We have it covered thanks. Wouldn't want to let you put ideas in my daughter's head like you did with Andre." replied Sal through gritted teeth. Joker only shrugged in response. "Well, I guess you can't win em all! Hey! Speaking of all, I think we're missing something. Something to make this dinner party complete, something to bring the whole family together, something like...turkey!" At that moment, the doors behind the madman opened and behind him came the head of the mob dons himself, Carmine Falcone. "Well that or we could settle for the biggest ham in town, hahahahahahahahahahaha!!"The doors closed with a boom as the don of Gotham turned to the man in purple and quickly sneered at the sight of him. "So, you're the Joker?" asked Carmine."In the flesh! By the way Carmine, love what you've done with the place. The black curtains really bring the whole thing together," replied Joker with a snicker. Falcone, resisting the urge to punch the man who killed his son in the throat, ignored the vengeful tendency and proceeded to his own seat. "Ya know, I don't think you have any idea who the hell you're messing with!" Carmine shouted. "You know who I am?! I'm Carmine Falcone, the don of Gotham! The Roman! My family has been running this city since before you were hatched!" Seating himself between his remaining children, Falcone continued. "I mean look at what I have! I have wealth, power across Gotham, the greatest crime families in Gotham at my side, and one time, I had three beautiful children, until you took one out. Everything you have, is all mine, the money, the guns, the family! This is my life you little runt! My life is to keep power over this stinking town! It's to give my children something when I'm gone! It's...""A joke with an unfunny punchline!" Joker interrupted. "Ooh, look at me, I'm Don Dumbass, and I'm better than you, but I'm still hurt because I can't kill the big bad bat, I have no more control of the cops, and I'm still crying for my son is dead! Hahahahahaha!!" Joker's cackling, and his disrespect were getting to Carmine more than he would admit. This man should be terrified of whom he is present to. But instead, he's laughing in their faces. As though he doesn't care about anything but his own sense of humor. Sure as of late Carmine has dealt with those who would see his work dissolved, but never before had he have someone laugh at him, or the fact that he found enjoyment in Andre's death. "Hold on a minute!" shouted Theo getting up from his seat." You think that's funny? You think that doing what you did to Andre, stealing from our banks, and laughing at not just Carmine, but everyone else in this room is funny?!"The Joker was silent, he clapped his white gloved hands and looked about from wall to wall. "I plead the fifth of Jack!" he finally replied. "But yeah. Why, don't you Theodore?""First off, Don't ever call me Theodore! It's Theo you lunatic! Secondly, you tried to kill my sister. So no, I don't!" Theo snarled. Silent again, Joker shot a glance between Tabitha and Theo. As if he were in awe at the statement or perhaps insulted, though now no one could be sure if he were being genuine or comedic. Or as comedic as he would believe he is. Getting up from his seat, Joker approached the two of them and darted his head back and forth with his and grazing his chin. "Hmmmm, I don't see the resemblance." Turning back, Joker said out loud. "Oh, and that's not a crack at skin color. Shame on you who thought that!" Sitting back down, Joker looked back to Carmine who was now red in anger. "So you think that killing my son is a joke? that it's funny?! YOU THINK TURNING MY BOY INTO A SMILING CORPSE WAS FUNNY?!?!" "Look Carmine, I know I'm on the other side of the room, but I can still hear you. You don't to shout you know. Inside voices please. Heh." chuckled Joker.Fish was the next to speak, also showing her outrage at this twisted man. "Who the hell do you think you are?! To come to our town, and to interfere with our business?! To..."Joker chuckled again. "Well, technically, Batman and Gordon are the ones who are doing that. Speaking of Gordon, hey Babs, how about that custody battle huh?! Gonna be pretty hard to beat Mommy 2.0 this year huh?! Especially with what happened on Valentine's day. I mean come on, how desperate could you possibly be?! Tsk tsk tsk. Kidnapping your own daughter while she's out on a date? That's low girlfriend! Sometimes, you just gotta let it go, it's not your fault that Gordon divorced you when...oh right. Yes it was. Hehehe! But hey, maybe you can give me a call on her birthday! Old Uncle Joker will surly bring a smile on that sad little face of hers! Hehe!"Who was this man to judge her, he's killed God knows how many people in the last 3 weeks, and now he has the gull to talk about her daughter and ex-husband. Barbara replied with venom in her voice, "You keep my daughter out of this, you purple fetished psycho!!"Joker only laughed as he brushed off Barbara's insult as though it meant nothing to him. "Ohoho, you wanna talk about fetishes eh? I mean look at you, I'm sure Latex over there has given you some spectacular nights on the town, or the bed. Wouldn't you say Butchy-boo?"Butch didn't even respond to that. How could he? No, he wasn't gonna let this guy get the better of him. "Although, it must be hard for you. Knowing you can only get sloppy seconds! AHAHAHAHAHA!! Oh! I'm sorry, was that too personal?" At that remark, it was harder to keep himself under control. Both Barbara and Tabitha had to hold Butch down while Theo told him to hold on just a while longer. "Oh cheer up Butchy-boo, I'm only messin with ya!" snickered Joker. "Yeah, you'll wish you didn't," whispered Butch. "Easy Butch," stated Theo. "Just a little longer, bare with it.""But back to business matter," the mad man stated. "Look Fish breath, I'm not interfering with anything. No, I'm doing you guys a favor. I know it's backbreaking work keeping track of your guns, you drugs and your money. So I figured I'd be a charitable soul and carry some of that weight off of you. Granted, I didn't deal with drugs myself, but I've got a lot of guys in the workforce who do. Oh it's good to keep the workforce clean. Hehe. But I knew that drugs alone wouldn't do the trick, So to get a "proper payroll" started, I thought I'd go to the bank for a loan, and boy I tell ya Andre sure was persuasive. He even signed me up for a special Falcone bonus with those guns, and a special on bazookas and flamethrowers. But boy he sure was happy when we shook hands, he was grinning from ear to ear. I know I was." "Charitable?" replied Vinnie Ricorso. "What is so charitable about any of that? About what you did to Andre?""Yeah!" stated Rotelli. "And by the way, what's with the stupid mask?" "You know Tony, you're right. I shouldn't have to keep my lovely face hidden from friends. Excuse me, I'll be just a minute." Joker answered as he grabbed the red hood and threw it on the table. What sat before them, was enough to make anyone's skin crawl. Everyone expect for Falcone were unmoved by the clown in their presence. There sat the true face of the Joker, skin white as chalk, his wild hair a shade of green, total blackness surrounding his eyes, and across his face was a wide teeth riddled smile with blood red lips. Shaking his head in a form of relief, Joker replied and took in a deep breath of air. "Hooey, that's better. That damn mask was making everything so hard to breathe in. And my skin was getting rubbed down, and not in a good way if you know what I mean."Silence filled the room, what could they even think to ay about the clown before them. "Hehe, what? You never seen a clown before?" asked the chuckling Joker as he glanced back to the grandfather clock. 8.57 it read. With a smile on his face, Joker suddenly heard a small sound from his left."God, I hate clowns," he heard Laura squeak. "Do you dear?" Joker asked getting out of his seat and waltz to Laura. "Well that's a shame. Allow me to change you mind!" Grabbing Laura's arm, Joker laughed hysterically while he held her in the crutch of his own, nearly choking her as she began to cry for help. All were out of their seats and they grabbed their weapons. Most pulled out guns while Tabitha and Collins drew out their whip and katana, However, out from his pocket, Joker drew his own gun and held it up to Laura's head. "Back off, or the beauty pageant gets it!" he laughed. "Hehehehehe, what would Jim do?"Barbara sneered at the comment. Clearly Joker was enjoying himself too much. Oh, how she wished she could just shoot him and be done with it. "Did you really think that I wouldn't know what you were doing? Why you brought me here for dinner? Oh please Carmine. I'm insane, but I'm not stupid!" Maroni, more afraid of losing his daughter, still could not shake away the anger he was also holding against the Joker for threatening his daughter, as he more than likely did wit Andre. "Listen to me now you crazy clown, if you dare harm my daughter, I will turn your smile upside down, and it will be a day you will long remember, I know I will remember it with great joy when I grow old!Joker only laughed. He replied, "I wouldn't do that Sally. Remembering's dangerous. I find the past to to be such a worrying anxious place, Yes, memories so treacherous. One minute you're lost in a carnival of delight. Childhood aromas, the flashing neon of puberty, all that sentimental candy floss. The next moment, it takes you somewhere you don't want to be. Somewhere dark and cold, filled with the damp ambiguous shapes of things you'd rather wish you forgotten. Memories can be vile, repulsive little brutes. Like children I guess (chuckles) . "At that, Carmine and the rest of the mob could only gather that it was some form of twisted reference to Andre as the clown continued."But can we live without them? Memories are what our reason is based on. If we deny them, we deny the very fabric of reason itself. Although, what's wrong with that really? We're not contractually tied down to rationality. There is no sanity clause. So whenever you fools find yourselves locked onto unpleasant trains of though, heading for the places in your past where the screaming is unavoidable, remember this. There's always madness. Madness is like an emergency exit. You can just step outside, and close the door in all those dreaded things that happened, you can lock them away, forever. At that moment, the grandfather clock's chime rang, signaling the arrival of 9 o'clock. Suddenly, there came a commotion outside the manor. As if there was a speeding truck passing by, only then it grew louder and louder, and with it, the bright lights of truck headlights, growing brighter and brighter. Until finally came a loud crash behind them, broken splinters of wood flew into the air along with the many shards of broken glass and the black curtain waving in the air like black clouds in the rainy afternoon. Behind them was an enormous army truck painted purple and green with the Joker's likeness spray-painted on the front. Most had fallen to escape the chaos before them or from the trucks impact through the wall, but the chaos had not come close to ending. Out from the truck, came the Joker's henchman all wearing clown masks and machine guns in their hands ready to fire down any who approach them. Taking the ever-screaming Laura toward the truck, Joker just laughed while the party rose up to their feet again. "Well Carmine ol boy, thanks for the party. It's been a blast." Smiled Joker pointing his gun at Carmine, only to switch his aim in a flash and toward Barbara. "No!" cried Tabitha as she knocked Barbara back onto the ground as the bullet missed it's target and shot through the wall. Both women glared at the clown who had thrown the terrified Laura to the ground and ran his way to the army truck while laughing some more while a tall blonde woman covered his escape. The Joker turned to his accomplice and asked if everything was ready."As requested sir!" She replied with a salute. "Great job Bruno! Oh, and good work on the entrance! Turning back to the mob, the Joker bowed before his audience before turning to Tabitha and Barbara who glared at him with burning hatred. "Don't you worry your pretty hair Latex, I'll be sure to save a great punchline just for you!" he grinned and opening the passenger door as the woman named Bruno entered the driver side. "Well toodaloo!!" With that, the truck backed out of the ruined manor and rode off into the night as fast as it could with the only sounds left were to crunching of trees, more of the manor, and within the was the Joker's maniacal laughter. As fast as he could, Sal approached his hysterical daughter and held onto to her as if his life depended on it. Turning to the others, Sal declared that this was much worse than what they believed it to be."No shit Sherlock!" replied Collins. "Just how the hell did that psychopath steal an army truck?! How can you steal an army truck?!" Foolishly asked Alberto who was holding his shaking sister. The resulting query received a massive slap in the back of the head by Collins. "I'm more concerned if I will be living tomorrow or not rather than a stupid purple army truck genius!! If we let that crazy clown live, this marks the beginning of the end of our way of life!! And frankly Carmine, I DO NOT want to be next in this freak's death list!!!" "Neither do I," Carmine answered back. "Put the word out tonight, all of you! Tell the whole damn underworld that there is gonna be a man-hunt for that circus freak! Whoever finds and kills that damn clown will be paid 10 million dollars.""But you know the Bat will be out there looking for him too." replied Mooney cleaning a cut from her face."True. Well then make it double. 20 million for both of those freaks dead!!" With that Falcone's word was final, and he will see to it that both the biggest freaks in Gotham are dead and the city will be his once again, and that his son would get the vengeance he deserved. He will be damned sure of that....
